Traveling can be very busy, but that doesn’t mean you should forget to take good care of your smile. This means you should do your best to keep your teeth and gums in tip-top shape by keeping up on oral hygiene. To help you do so, Dr. Joseph Tagliarini and our dental team have some tips for you.

First, brush your teeth for at least two minutes every morning and every night. As you do so, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste that have been approved by the American Dental Association. This will help you eliminate the harmful bacteria from the surfaces of your teeth.

Second, floss your teeth at least once a day—after each time you eat if possible. Feel free to floss with a flossing product of your choice and scrape the sides of each tooth. As you floss, be gentle along the gumline.

Third, pack travel-sized oral hygiene tools. The smaller the toothbrush you have, the better. This is because it won’t take up much room in your traveling bag. It’s also recommended to pack a toothbrush cover to keep the bristles clean. When it comes to toothpaste, make sure to check the size. Remember, liquids that weigh more than 3.4 ounces are not allowed on aircrafts so make sure your paste is light enough to meet the weight requirements. Feel free to pack a flossing product you prefer.
